The congregation’s coat of arms
expresses the consecration of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd.
Appearing in the center of the badge, the letter “M” evokes the place of nuns under the name of the Immaculate Virgin and is intended to be a reference to the name of the congregation at the time of its religious incorporation, the Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. . The initials “SCIM” also refer to it.
The heart, in the upper part of the escutcheon, represents that of Mary, of whom the Sisters of the Good Shepherd are the servants.
The flames escaping symbolize the love igniting Mary's heart while the sword evokes the pain that pierced the Virgin's soul during her life. The crown of roses surmounting the whole designates the glory of Mary, her power and her joys. As for it, the fleur-de-lis crown recalls the origin of the history of the congregation and the maple leaves, entwined around the crest, reveal its Canadian origin. Finally, the motto “Trahe nos Virgo Immaculata”, which means “Draw us to you, Immaculate Virgin”, attracts the entire congregation in the same spirit.
